the slaughtered lamb

address: 182 w. 4th St., ny, ny.

ambience: 6/10 small, divey front area, with a cozy dining room in back. a loose torture theme is present, but overall feels like any small bar in the west village.

the beer: 5/10 mostly mass market americans. i opted for the sierra nevada pale ale. poured into a 16oz. pint glass, seemed a little flat, and tasted it too. not so horrible that i had to order something else, though.

the wings: 6/10 offered in mild or hot, i opted for the hot with ranch dressing, which is my norm. wings were not prepared fresh as they arrived within 5 minutes. they looked like they were dropped in a fryer to warm them up for a few minutes, then had sauce poured over them. they were meaty and the sauce wasn't bad, but nothing interesting.

service: 5/10 the bartender was friendly and apologetic for the lack of stools at the bar(they disappeared on halloween). so, i ordered a beer and my wings and had a seat at a small, high table on the cusp of the dining room area. the wings were delivered by the cocktail waitress, with a pile of napkins. no return visit. i finished my beer, wings and left.

overall: 5/10 mediocrity is the pervasive theme of this review. nothing was worth returning for, but nothing so offensive to put me off entirely. if you're in this neighborhood looking for wings, you'd be better served right across the street at down the hatch(review coming soon).
